Lithuania Follow-Up Activities – Digital Storytelling for Social Change (DiGiSC)

Introduction

The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange "Digital Storytelling for Social Change (DiGiSC)" brought together young people from seven countries in Pissouri, Cyprus, from 27 March to 4 April 2026. The project focused on empowering participants to use digital storytelling, photography, filmmaking, theatre, and media literacy as tools for promoting social change, inclusion, diversity, and active citizenship. Through non-formal education activities, intercultural exchange, and collaborative creative work, participants developed digital competences, communication skills, teamwork abilities, and greater awareness of important social issues.

Following the completion of the youth exchange, the Lithuanian participants organized local dissemination activities to share their experiences, promote Erasmus+ opportunities, and transfer the knowledge and skills gained during the project to other young people in their community.

Follow-Up Activity

Local Dissemination Event – Youth Leisure Centre, Lithuania

The Lithuanian team organized a local dissemination activity involving approximately 20 young people. The activity aimed to share the experiences gained during the DiGiSC Youth Exchange while also raising awareness about the importance of Denim Day and the social issues connected to respect, consent, equality, and social responsibility.

At the beginning of the activity, participants introduced the Erasmus+ project Digital Storytelling for Social Change (DiGiSC), presenting its objectives, educational methodology, workshops, cultural activities, and the learning outcomes achieved throughout the exchange in Cyprus. Young people attending the event were encouraged to ask questions, creating an open discussion about Erasmus+ opportunities and international youth mobility.

Following the presentation, the facilitators implemented a debate activity inspired by the same methodology experienced during the youth exchange. Participants discussed topics related to respect, consent, discrimination, social responsibility, and active citizenship. The debates created a safe environment where young people could express their opinions, listen to different perspectives, strengthen their argumentation skills, and reflect on important social issues.

The activity successfully combined awareness-raising with active participation and demonstrated how non-formal educational methods can encourage dialogue, critical thinking, and youth engagement. It also served as an effective way to disseminate the results of the DiGiSC project and inspire more young people to participate in Erasmus+ opportunities in the future.

Participating in the Erasmus+ youth exchange in Pissouri, Cyprus, was a truly unforgettable experience. Together with participants from Armenia, Cyprus, North Macedonia, Hungary, and Lithuania, we explored Digital Storytelling through workshops, cultural exchange, photography, cinematography, and acting. The most exciting activity was creating a short film focused on inequality, which helped us develop both technical and storytelling skills. The experience provided practical competences, intercultural learning, and unforgettable memories that I would recommend to any young person.

The DiGiSC project was one of the most valuable experiences I have ever had. Throughout the week we developed digital storytelling skills, explored social issues such as inclusion and equality, created short films, participated in photography activities, debates, and cultural exchanges, and discovered Cyprus through educational visits. The welcoming atmosphere, supportive leaders, and multicultural environment allowed me to grow personally while gaining responsibility, confidence, empathy, teamwork skills, and a broader understanding of the world.

The Erasmus+ DigiSC project was a meaningful and eye-opening experience that helped me grow both personally and socially. Activities focusing on stereotypes, photography interpretation, debates, and filmmaking encouraged me to reflect on my own perspectives, improve communication skills, and become more aware of social issues. Working together with people from different countries also showed me the value of genuine human connections and intercultural understanding.

During the project I participated in many workshops, debates, team activities, and the creation of a mini-film. I particularly enjoyed the debate activities because they allowed me to express my opinions and hear different viewpoints. The cultural nights were also among my favourite experiences, as they introduced us to traditions, food, and customs from different countries. The project gave me the opportunity to meet many new people, discover new cultures, and create lasting memories.

Through the DiGiSC project I participated in workshops focused on digital skills, teamwork, communication, and intercultural cooperation. Working with participants from different countries helped me improve my English language skills and gain confidence in international environments. Beyond the educational activities, I also developed meaningful friendships and learned valuable lessons that contributed to both my personal and academic growth.

The project was very well organized and offered a strong balance between educational activities and practical learning. Through non-formal education methods, participants were actively involved in discussions and teamwork. As a local follow-up activity, we organized a debate based on the meaning of Denim Day, encouraging young people to discuss important social topics. Summary
